Ugglebo Clogs

We were very flattered to have been asked by Ugglebo recently to feature their product on our blog. Not only because we think they have a certain vintage quality to them, but also because we LOVE their product. (See THIS post we contributed to @ Pussycat Vintage) So we decided to give a little background on their product, then each pick out our favorite pair and put an outfit together utilizing vintage.

A little about the brand:

"Our company and brand was founded in 1965 by master clog maker, Sven Carlsson. During his youth, Sven Carlsson began making clogs for the largest and most venerable clog making company in Sweden, Sandgrens Clogs."

"Ugglebo focuses on the exceptional legacy of the Swedish clog making industry while incorporating a contemporary approach to its collections. Each clog is still crafted by hand, using the time-honored techniques and luxurious materials that have made Ugglebo known throughout the world."

 And the best part is:

"Ugglebo means “owl’s nest” in Swedish. The owl is a universal symbol for wisdom, and the nest is a symbol of nurturing and growth. We at Ugglebo truly cherish these values and we strive to do our very best to share them with children in need. That's why we at Ugglebo donate 5% of our annual profits to the nurturing, growth and passing of wisdom to disadvantaged children through education. We can’t really think of a name or logo that could mean so much to us as our little owl does."

The inventory! Right now, the winter collection is available on their website, but the spring/summer 2012 is just a preview! (unless you are wholesalers of course)

Erin's favorite: the Seattle Boot (specifically in black, though the other colors are equally as tempting)

These boots remind me of vintage campus boots from the late '60's early '70's. Plus I love how they can transition easily from dressed up to casual.  The clog base is what I truly love since I have a weak spot for clogs. I'm not even sure how I developed my love for them, but I did, and they are ridiculously comfortable.

Jeannine's favorite: the Lisbon in Honey

I love that the Lisbons have an overall feminine feel, which is evident in the ankle strap, heel height and subtle v-shaped cut-out feature on the foot, but that they also show an edgier side with the buckle and gold studs that line the shoe. I’ve chosen to highlight these clogs in the Honey color mostly because they can be paired with anything. I’m such a sucker for neutral colored shoes as they can help lengthen even the shortest of legs. And these Honey colored clogs help in that department not only because of their neutral color but because of their height.

We truly truly respect the fact that these shoes are handmade with attention and care. It shows.
